Bushey Bowling Club can be regarded as one of the premier bowling clubs in Hertfordshire. Individuals and teams have won and been placed in many competitions at local and national level. However we pride ourselves in being a club for all and complete beginners are welcomed to take up our sport and participate in the numerous social events at the club.
Club members may take part in numerous competitions, from internal through leagues, Watford and District and County. There are separate Ladies’, Men’s, Veterans’ (age 65+ ), mixed matches and Club Days, including an aggregate competition on Tuesday mornings, throughout the season.
The Ladies and Men take part in all of the Watford and District leagues and competitions, as well as all County competitions. Many of the members have reached the County finals and gone on to compete at the national finals.
There is a ‘Green Team’ of approximately 7 volunteer members, who maintain the green and do general maintenance around the clubhouse and surrounds. The club green is now up to a standard where it is classified for County competition status, thus earning the club certain prestige as well as additional revenue. Since 2001, Hertfordshire County Bowling Association and Watford and District have used the ground on a regular basis for neutral green competitions. The surrounding grass, hedge, rockery and flowerbeds are also maintained by club members.
There is a programme of Social events during the winter months which prove popular with Members and friends. There are quizzes, Call My Bluff, Play Your Cards Right, etc.
Every Thursday is Club Night when Members can play cards, darts, games or just chat.
Weekly daytime activities include craft mornings and Mah Jong.
We are situated in King George Recreation Ground, Bushey (see map).
